Yule, Winter Solstice.
Date: December 20, 21, or 22 in the Northern Hemisphere.
June 20, 21, or 22 in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Sun God is born. Light is renewed in the world. Days begin to lengthen. It is a time of celebration and joy. The Goddess has given us her greatest gift.

Some ways to observe Yule:

Decorate your altar with pine and holly boughs (with the red berries attached,
if you can), pine cones, and red or green candles.

  • Drum and/or chant to welcome the rebirth of the sun.

  • Acknowledge the emergence out of darkness into light – but state the importance of both.

  • Exchange gifts.

Contemplations for the full moon near Yule:
What have you accomplished in the last 12 months? What are you proudest of?What would you like to do differently in the next year?
