Beltane, Beltaine, Beltana, May Eve
Date: April 30 or May 1 in the Northern Hemisphere.
October 31 or November 1 in the Southern Hemisphere.

The Goddess joins in sexual union with the God. The Lady conceives. The earth flourishes with fertility. It is a time of ecstasy, creativity, and celebration. Because it is in direct balance with Samhain, this is also a very potent, magical time.

Some ways to observe Beltane:

Decorate the altar with bright, colorful decor, such as spring flowers and greenery, ribbons, etc.

  • Wash your face in the dew at dawn.

  • Dance a Maypole.

  • Do a fire blessing with either a bonfire or a candle flame. (Use caution!)

  • Make flower crowns.

  • Use body-safe paints to paint magical symbols on one another.
